Awe Inspiring

At, Adora Svitak became a published author and prolific writer at the tender age of 6. This precocious individual is now 12 yrs old and is already dubbed the youngest teacher with her bold, witty, and clever ideas. Adora has written over 400 short stories, and is quite capable at writing a novel a day. I struggle to write 300 words in an hour! Did I mention she is only 12 YRS OLD? Many adults may feel intimidated by her optimistic & sassy demeanor, but even though I'm a bit of a realist, I think it is quite possible to learn fresh ideas from this young prodigy.

Just splurge on your Lips

So my loves, there are certain products that I will splurge on and some that I wont. It's all about balance. Essentially what you think is practical for your needs and what will get the job done. With that said, I personally LOVE this "Kiehl's #1 Lip Balm", which is fitting because me and many others regard it as being exceptional. This product moisturizes my lips without leaving them pasty or goey feeling And most importantly it has that good ole SPF 4, which we all know is crucial. Beauty professional's engrain this info into our heads. I know throughout the winter my lips have suffered quite a bit, but with just a lil squeeze of this tube my lips feel all better and your lips will too! Make sure you get the Mango flavor cus it smells Fab! Your lips will thank you later!

Oh so Lovely!

I absolutely adore these Yves Saint Laurent "Imperiale" pumps.

"Being a girl is so powerful that we've had to train everyone not to be that"

You might recognize or have heard of Eve Ensler for creating the critically acclaimed Vagina Monlogues. Ensler's goal is to not only create more awareness against oppression and violence against women but to educate and most importantly empower women of all walks of life. Ensler has made many profound points in her discussion on the girl cell, which she claims boys are taught to suppress. There are different expectations on how boys and girls are brought up. These expectations actually shapes genders norms and the kinds of roles they will fill later in their life. These gender norms will lead to girls thinking they are followers, not leaders like the boys.

I think that the most important point that she brings up is on how the disappearance of these girl traits has led us to the kind of world that we live in now. In may not be so prominent in our Western society, but in other parts of the world violence, rape and genocide are being committed against women and children everyday. This video is quite enlightening, powerful and insightful. I suggest that if you have twenty minutes to spare, I promise you it will make you embrace that inner female cell inside of you; boy or girl. xo

Game Change

So I've finally just finished reading the Book of Negroes by Laurence Hill and I must say, I am very impressed with his writing. Overall the story was very moving and enlightening. I promise I'll write a better review on the book some time soon!

I've moved on to read "Game Change" by journalists John Heilemann and Mark Halperin. I received this book from my parents who had read a review in the Financial Times. From what I've heard, this book has the "juiciest revelations" and insightful observations by Heilemann and Halperin, who accompanied many of these political figures during the 2008 campaign trail. It features John McCain, Barack Obama, Hilary and Bill Clinton, John Edwards and of course who could forget about America's favorite Alaskan Sarah Palin! It's a mix of politics and journalism..or should I say political gossip! I have a feeling "Game Change" is going to cause quite a stir in America in the next couple of weeks.

You better order a copy online if your interested in this book because from what I heard it has been flying off the shelves at Indigo.
